You can download the sample api package http://www.mypage.com/functions/sampleapi.rar
In every php file where you are calling the function you should put this snippet in the first two lines:

include('IXR_Library.inc.php');

$client = new IXR_Client('http://www.mypage.com/functions/mypagefunctions.php');

These are the basic functions under mypagefunctions.php

getuser.php - gets user info using username and md5 value of user password see example getuser.php
